Job Search Strategies 2012

With one of the highest job rates in year it is going to take some extra effort to make you stand out in this highly competitive job market. Here are 5 new strategies to get you that new job.

number one- Start by visiting company websites were you particular skill set would benefit that company. For example if you are good in sales find a company that sales growth is a key factor. Make sure to put your accomplishments from your previous sales experience in your resume. Also while visiting these websites look for a link called Careers. If they don't have a link they usually will post job on a Local Job Search Website.

Second- Networking is a main key ingredient. When looking for a job use social networking sites, such as linkedin, facebook, foursquare and other social media platforms. If you put yourself out there and let the people you know you are looking the better chance that the company they work for might be hiring. It's always good to have a foot in the door before you even go to apply.

Third- Consider alternate jobs. If you are a salesman but are having trouble getting a job in sales, you should open your viewing spectrum. Take for instance you may have to start out as a merchandiser. If you do good job in this lesser role and show you are dedicated you can move up the ladder quickly to get back into that sales position.

Fourth- Go to job fairs. These are great places to network and to get to know the H.R. people who do the hiring at most of the companies you will be trying to get employed by. Showing them that you can take the time and show interest in the company shows how dedicated you could possibly be for their company.

Fifth- Get some help from an expert. There are local job services in every city. May it be your local unemployment office or a temp agency. These agencies have the inside track on who is hiring in your area.

The Truth About The Unemployment Rate

The truth about the real unemployment rate in the United States is that is a lot higher than the 9% that the government states. The truth is that it is around 27% the way they come up with this 9% number is on how many people claimed their unemployment benefits. They don't take into consideration on how many people have used up all their unemployment benefits and still are not working. What needs to happen is they need to find out how many people are not working in total not how many people are not drawing benefits. Why the government does things like this I have no idea, but if we do not start seeing things in this country the way they really are there is no way to fix our problems.

Robots Stealing Our Jobs

If you work in a factory then you know there are robots out there that can do almost anything a human can do. The fact is that in just 2010 over a million new jobs went to robots instead of humans. This is part of what is causing the unemployment rate to go so high, companies see that they can pay $1,000,000 for a robot and it will work 24hrs a day 7days a week with no hourly pay or benefits, it won't call in sick or get injured on the job. This is how technology is hurting humanity. I am not preaching that technology is bad, in fact I am all for technology, I think that if the government wants to help with unemployment they should stipulate how many robots can take peoples jobs away, put a cap on the amount of robots per factory. Stop designing robots to do jobs that people are more than capable of doing themselves. If you haven't noticed that technology is growing by leaps and bounds every year, the robotics industry is getting better and better at what they do, you may find that a robot will soon be doing whatever your job is tomorrow. When that happens we will all be on a local job search.
